What is this medicine?
NITROFURAZONE is an antibacterial medication used for treating skin conditions assotiated with infections.
What should my health care professional know before I take this medicine?
They need to know if you have any of these conditions:
- kidney disease
- an unusual or allergic reaction to nitrofurazone or other medications, foods, dyes or preservatives
- pregnant or trying to become pregnant
- breast-feeding
How should I use this medicine?
Apply sufficient medication to affected area or place medication on gauze and cover the affected area. Wash your hands before and after using this medication.
The amount of medicine that you take depends on the strength of the medicine. Also, the number of doses you take each day, the time allowed between doses, and the length of time you take the medicine depend on the medical problem for which you are using the medicine.
Contact your pediatrician or health care professional regarding the use of this medication in children. Special care may be needed.
Overdosage: If you think you have applied too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.
NOTE: This medicine is only for you. Do not share it with others.
What if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose of this medicine, apply it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.
What may interact with this medicine?
Don't apply this medicine if you use any other topical medications.
Give your health care provider a list of all the medicines, herbs, non-prescription drugs, or dietary supplements you use. Also tell them if you smoke, drink alcohol, or use illegal drugs. Some items may interact with your medicine.
What should I watch for while taking this medicine?
If your burn or skin infection does not improve, or if it becomes worse, check with your health care professional.
